Lots of Random

My grandpa is dying.

I went to visit him at a hospice today. I have never been to a hospice before. I don't even know if I am spelling it correctly right now. It seemed a lovely place, but nonetheless it was a place were people came to die. That is a little strange. Walking into a giant one level house right on the lake, and knowing that everyone is here for one purpose.

I will say that for someone who is dying, he seemed very at peace. He just kind of laid there at stared at the ceiling. Sometimes when talked to he would sort of come out of it, he would look at you and say something with startling clarity. It's sad to see but at the same time he seems pretty ok with it, and that's good enough for me.

In a slightly related story...

On my way home from the hospice I was listening to a show on NPR. It is a Canadian show with a very distinct theme song, and as it played I found myself jubilantly singing along. It was then I realized I was a full fledged NPR geek.
