Small rock

The guy mentioned in the previous post about Daniel Johnston is in a band called Codger. I have seen them a couple of times and just recently caught them at the Acadia Cafe. I have driven by the Acadia Cafe numerous times and would never have thought they had a stage in there. It turned out to be a pretty cool place.

The headliners that night were a local band named Avenpitch who I have seen once before at a different Codger show. This most recent show Avenpitch wanted all the bands to play acoustically and out of there element. Codger was the only band that really took this to heart. Every song Craig (the guy I work with) played a different instrument. I think the order was, toy piano, trombone, 40oz malt liquor bottles with different levels of liquid, plastic Halloween pumpkin candy bucket, accordion, and trumpet. The only "instrument" that he knew how to play was the trumpet. They had created a new drum kit for there drummer out of 5 gallon paint buckets, a metal ring, and a dresser drawer for the kick drum. The guitar player had an auto harp, and an acoustic guitar. It was way cool, sort of like Stomp but not crappy.

The first band Mach Fox was totally plugged in and even had an electric bass. Codger was second and then Princess Wishingstar, which was actually just one guy because I guess the rest of the band couldn't make it. Avenpitch was the main attraction and therefore went last. Codger and Avenpitch were good but the other two bands were pretty lame.

None of the pictures I took really turned out because my camera sucks in low light situations so the picture above is way blurry.

I mean, that they way it's supposed to look.

Artsy.

Go here and see some professional pictures form that evening.
